The Washington County Ice Pee Wee B team won the Championship at the Eagle River Tournament on February 18th and 19th.
The Ice opened the tournament Saturday morning against the Rice Lake Warriors. Washington County started fast, controlling
most of the play in route to a 9-1 victory.
Washington County returned to the rink for a late afternoon game against the Waupun Warriors. The Ice started fast, scoring two goals
in the opening 5 minutes. The first was by Talon Vorpahl (assisted by Alex Petersen) followed by Liam Quinn’s power play tally
(assisted by Cash Wichlacz). Despite the Ice controlling much of the play; the Warriors were able to get on the board with the lone goal of the second period. The Ice continued to control much of the play in the 3rd period, and put the game away with 4 goals by Camden
Luedtke. Liam and Talon assisted on the 1st goal, Tyler Bartz and Carson Phillips on the second and Tryton Yamaguchi got
the assists on the 3rd and 4th goal. Final score: 6-1 Ice.
This set up a rematch with the Superior Spartans (Blue) for the Championship. Much like the championship game at the Chris Kurth
Memorial Tournament in Eau Claire, this was a low scoring, hard fought game. The Ice opened the scoring 5 minutes into the 1st period with a power play tally by Quinn Daczka, assisted by Tryton Yamaguchi. The Spartans pulled even with 4 minutes left in the 2nd
period, but the Ice took advantage of a late Spartan penalty as Camden Luedtke scored off passes from Liam Quinn and Tyler Bartz. The Ice kept pushing the attack in the 3rd period, but it was the Spartans that scored the lone goal of the period. As the overtime minutes
ticked by, the Ice continued to press the play with Tryton ending the game 18 minutes into OT, Camden got the assist on the game
