SQA Shuts Out Ozaukee in Championship Game 5-0 to win Cup!

SQA Travelled to Sun Prairie January 21-23 to compete in the Cardinal Cup.  They hit the ice Saturday morning to play the Crystal Lake (IL) Yellow Jackets.  The Ice took an early lead in the first period, but the Yellow Jackets tied the game shortly after, and the Ice found themselves down 3-2 at the end of the 2nd period.  The Ice came out of the break and scored early and often in the 3rd, winning the game 6-3.  Led by a Hat Trick from Landon MacDonald, and 3 assists from Matthew Grannan.

In Game 2 on Saturday afternoon, the Ice began what became a theme for the rest of the tournament, and played a familiar foe, Waupun.  After a scoreless 1st Period, the Ice put 3 goals on the board in the 2nd, and never looked back.  Led by a Hat Trick and 2 assists from Andrew Butler, the Ice defeated the Warriors 5-2, and an invitation to the Championship Game on Sunday afternoon.

Continuing the theme, the Ice played familiar foe, Ozaukee, in the Championship game.  Chase Pickett got the Ice on the board in the 1st Period with a shot from the point that found the back of the net.  In what Coach Eddie MacDonald called "The best team game we have played all season" the Ice never looked back, and Matthew Ferrier shut out the Ice Dogs, en route to a 5-0 victory.

Congratulations to SQA on a great tournament!
