Strong Start Despite Loss

It's that time of year again!  Hockey season is finally underway for our 10U Ice Lynx Girls hockey team.  November 3rd was the opening game for the Lynx's 2019-2020 campaign against the Elmbrook-Waukesha combined girls team.  Despite an early first period goal in the first 4-minutes of play, the Ice Lynx came roaring back for the entirety of the game.

Evenly matched on both sides of the puck, the Ice Lynx out-shot the Elmbrook team 10-4.  For all 3 periods, the Ice Lynx defense kept the Elmbrook team out of their defensive zone and on the right side of the blue-line.  Centers Eva and Bryn were able to generate some good scoring opportunities, but none were able to get over the goal-line to tie it up.  Mites, Julia and Harper, showed great effort and played well in their first squirt games.

Overall, the game was great and well-played by all. There were no penalty minutes served by either team.  Coach Mark had this to say after the game, "Strong defense and hustle from our forwards - it’s hard to fix when they did everything we said. Now it’s just fine tuning. I am very excited."  Assistant Coach Eric Fortney commented, "There was great positioning, hustle, passing and shooting. The few mistakes that were made will get better with game experience. The girls gave 110% and we couldn’t have asked for anymore from them!"

Next up for the Ice Lynx is the Ozaukee Ice Dogs 10UB team on Saturday, Nov. 9th at 10:30 AM at the KMIC in West Bend, WI.
