Washington County Youth Hockey Association

WCYHA's Squirt B team finished second in the State Squirt 2B Tournament over the week!  Their first game was against the Eagle River where the ICE won 4-1.  The Ice played their second game against Chippewa Falls, playing one of their best games of the year, and winning 8-1. 
In the championship game, the Ice squared off against Fond du Lac.  The Ice again played some of our best hockey of  year against a strong Fond du Lac team.  Fond du Lac stuck first in the first period and the Ice added 2 in the second to take the lead into the third period even after killing off a 5 on 3 penalty. Early in the third, Fond du Lac scored quickly to tie the game and 2 minutes later scored a short handed goal to take the lead.  The  Ice fought hard to the final horn hitting pipes on at least 3 shots, but just could get the puck in the net.
Congratulations WCYHA Squirt Bs on a very solid 2nd place finish at State. 

Squirt B defeated Janesville 5-4 in OT...

The Ice beat Rice Lake 10-1 and Eagle River 8-0 to get the championship game the Eagle River invitational tournament at the end of February.   The Ice lost a tough game 5-3 against Fond du Lac.

WCYHA's Squirt B team finished second in the Onalaska Invitational Tournament on 1/28 & 1/29.  Their first game was against the host Onalaska where the ICE won 14-0.
The ICE played their second game against a Northfield, MN team and pulled out a 7-1 win with an exciting ending to the second period. The ICE scored 2 goals in the last couple minutes (one with only seconds remaining) to win the second period, maximizing the tournament points for the game and securing the #1 seed.  In the championship game, they squared off against a Crystal Lake, IL Squirt A team.  The ICE fought hard and played a game much closer than the final indicated, shutting out their opponent in 2 periods, but lost 3-0.
