Our Pre-Hockey Program is designed
for the very beginning hockey player.
It
is a developmental program that prepares players for travel youth
hockey. We focus on
the basic skills involved in skating and playing in game-like
situations. At the end of each session an exhibition game will
be scheduled to give kids a real feel for the game. Once basic skills have been mastered, skaters will be
invited to join one of our travel teams or, if young enough, our
1st-Year Mite program. We do require that participants have
the ability to skate forward.
These are the
main skills that will be focused on:
1. Sit on ice and stand up 2. Proper stance 3. March forward across the ice 4. Forward two-foot glide 5. Dip/squat 6. Scooter pushes/T-push 7. Forward swizzles 8. Snowplow stop 9.
