Our History

Mike Quigly, Garnet Ward, Horst Wagner, John Gehl and Connie Hall formed this association in 1975.  The first practice was held on Big Cedar Lake near Garnet Ward’s home.  It was then moved to a neighborhood rink on Little Cedar Lake.  From there the rink moved to a pond at Silverbrook and Hickory.  As the association grew, the need for a more permanent site became necessary.  The association contacted Gary Anderson of the West Bend Recreation Department, and the rink was set up on one of the ball diamonds at Regner Park. In 1977, due to flooding issues, the Park Commission agreed to a new location behind the warming house at Regner Park.  In 1992 the “Ice ‘92” fund raising campaign finally helped us to realize our goal of an indoor ice facility, The Kettle Moraine Ice Center. 

  Located in West Bend Wisconsin, The Kettle Moraine Ice Center is owned and operated by the Washington County Youth Hockey Association.  Dedicated Volunteers are a necessary component to the success of the KMIC.  The KMIC operates 10 months out of the year and users include:  Washington County Youth Hockey, Washington County Adult Hockey League, WIAA Ice Bears, Grafton H.S., Wisconsin Wild, Kettle Moraine Figure Skating Club, Wisconsin AAA and The West Bend Bombers.
